Why is it that everyone always says “you can’t do it all!” Why? I can. If I don’t then I’ll die trying! Here are my current passions…
- Make-Up Artist
- Jewelry Designer
- Real Estate Agent
- Permanent Make-Up Artist
- Social Media Marketer
- & So much more in life I want to do!
It seems like people have this misconception that one can only be good at one thing, which is so blatantly false. There are those that can only be good at one thing, but not everyone is like that! NOT ME!
Going back to the old days, people like Aristotle, Leonardo DaVinci and even Capote were “Renaissance Men” – a phrase which I will define now:
This used to be a GOOD thing until we began needing specialists. People then began forcing specialization upon students. All of a sudden in high school you had to choose what you wanted to study, what you were going to be when you graduated college etc. How many of us actually know (at 18) what we want to do for the rest of our lives? I know that I had a few ideas but didn’t really know for sure!
So instead of following my heart, I put my dreams aside – took my basics and pressured myself to decide on one career. Geology? Psychology? Chemical Engineer? Nurse? Nutritionist? Public Health? Fashion?
Those are just a few of the paths that I took. My grades were above average, in fact, excellent but after diving into so many different courses and career possibilities my decision was even harder than before! 120 plus college credit hours from HCCS, University of Houston (Main), University of Texas (Houston) & Sam Houston State University – technically make me as educated as a PHD. I like to think of myself as a master of whatever I feel passion for at the time, because passions change..
I’ve come to the realization that it doesn’t matter what you choose to study in college because at the end of the day you have to love what you are doing. Happiness to me is doing what I love, whether it’s photography, music, real estate, DIY, YouTubing, blogging, microblading or just being a mom. I’m a jack of all trades, a quick learner and my specialty is EVERYTHING!
I’m a lover of learning, soak up all knowledge and will be a lifetime learner no matter what anyone says. One thing I ask, when you meet someone that tells you that they do “everything” don’t be like everyone else and say “you need to focus on one thing” or “you can’t be good at it all” because you just don’t understand.
